Getting On-Chain

Why Cardano?

Supporting ...

Engineering

Cardano is a fully scientifically researched and engineered third generation blockchain.

Peer-reviewing of all aspects of the design and implementation is a core part of the Cardano philosphy.

Responsibilty

Environment responsibility. Cardano uses proof-of-stake as method for choosing on-chain validators and consensus mechanisms - unlike proof-of-work it uses a fraction of the energy to validate a block of transactions/data.

Vision

An aligned vision to change the world - with economic identity for all.

Community

A vibrant community, that is working together on all aspects of building a better (least-harmful) society - starting with meeting basic human needs for all.

Transparency

Open communications - with team accessibility.

Reliability

Always up and secure, with proven multi-year 100% up time.

Other Factors;

Deterministic fees - consistant and lower transaction fees.

Well supported.

Catalyst for funding community projects.

What

We are delivering on the following three key outcomes.

Overview

Policy ID

All assets on the Cardano blockchain are created in the context of a policy and its associated Policy ID.
Assets (e.g. a learner achievement) can have the same name.
It is the combination of the Policy ID and the Asset Name that make an asset unique.

Assets

The tokens and associated metadata stored on the Cardano blockchain.
e.g. an achievement (as an asset) is stored on-chain as a SDA token with metadata describing the achievement.

Getting Assets On-Chain

The selfdriven cloud service periodically analyses the new data entered via the App or API (e.g. a validated achievement with skills) and when applicable coverts it into a Cardano asset - it then submits the asset as a transaction to the Cardano blockchain.

Accessing On-Chain Assets

Assets (tokens/metadata) can be accessed by the App or by directly querying the Cardano blockchain using a service like blockfrost and the selfdriven SDK.
Non identity based (fungible) tokens like the selfdriven Community (SDC) token can also be accessed directly using a Cardano wallet.

How It All Fits Together

Some of the technical details about wallets, addresses, accounts have been simplified to help communicate the core concepts.
